Oguz is the only Turkish immigration attorney to receive an award at The Immies 2026.
What Are The Immies?
The Immies is a national awards program launched by Build Talent Labs to recognize excellence across the immigration law community. Why was a program like this needed? Because immigration attorneys are the people answering calls at the crack of dawn, fighting Requests for Evidence (RFEs), and finding legal pathways no one else can see. Despite the magnitude of their work, they rarely get the recognition they deserve. The Immies was created to change that.
The program goes beyond honoring attorneys alone; it recognizes every layer of the immigration community. In 2026, awards were given across 10 categories, each reflecting a different dimension of innovation, resilience, advocacy, and leadership:
The Trailblazer Award honored attorneys pushing the boundaries of legal innovation; the Against All Odds Awardrecognized those who successfully navigated bureaucratic obstacles; and the Thought Leader of the Year celebrated those shaping public discourse in immigration law. The Resilience Award went to outstanding RFE responses, while the Breakthrough Award recognized exceptional advocacy and action. The Paralegal of the Year, Associate of the Year, and Power Partnership Award acknowledged key contributors across the profession. The People’s Choice Award was determined by community vote.
The Community Impact Award was designed for attorneys who reach underrepresented communities within the immigration system and provide them with the legal support they truly need. Our founding attorney Dorukhan Oguz was named the winner of this category.
The awards were announced on June 17, 2026, at the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) Annual Conference in San Diego, in front of the industry’s most prominent figures. In her remarks at the ceremony, Build Talent Labs Co-Founder and CEO Danielle Goldman emphasized that America’s success in the last era of innovation was made possible by the world’s most talented people being able to come, study, stay, and build here, and that immigration attorneys are the ones fighting every day to make sure that continues.
Three additional grand prize winners, selected by an independent panel of judges, are expected to be announced in July 2026.
What Does This Award Mean?
The Community Impact Award was created to honor attorneys who go beyond the courtroom to reach communities that are underserved by the immigration system and provide them with meaningful legal support. The award recognition noted that for Dorukhan Oguz and his team, prioritizing the legal needs of underrepresented communities has never been an add-on service. It is a core part of how they work every day.
Free Help Desk
One concrete example of this commitment is the Free Help Desk launched by Oguz Law. Available across all 50 states, this service supports immigrant communities in America not only with legal matters but also with the everyday challenges of life in the U.S. From driver’s license and DMV processes to opening a bank account and building credit, from health insurance applications to medical billing disputes, to Real ID and SSN appointment guidance and help with official forms and documents, the Help Desk provides free, accessible support to those who need it most.
It is this kind of sustained, community-centered support, extended to diverse immigrant groups across the country over the years, that earned Dorukhan Oguz the Community Impact Award.
