A new rule has been implemented for individuals filing asylum applications with U.S. Immigration Courts. As of July 22, 2025, applicants submitting their asylum cases to Immigration Court are now required to pay a $100 filing fee.
This rule applies to everyone filing after July 22, 2025, whether you applied immediately after that date or are planning to file in the coming months, this new regulation includes you.
Who Is Affected by the New Rule?
The following groups are affected by this new $100 asylum application fee:
- Individuals who file asylum applications with Immigration Court after July 22, 2025
- Those whose applications are currently being processed
- Individuals who plan to file asylum applications with Immigration Court in the future
Payment Details
Currently, within the Immigration Court’s online system, only the Initial Fee section has been activated. This means that the $100 payment can only be made during the initial filing process.
However, there is no active section yet for the annual continuation or renewal fee in the system.
This has caused confusion among some applicants. For example, individuals who filed their applications in previous years (2021–2023) are unsure whether they must pay an annual continuation fee. At this time, that option is not yet available in the system.
Oguz Law’s Recommendation
If you submit payment under the “Initial Fee” section before the renewal section becomes available, there is a risk that your $100 payment may be considered invalid.
For this reason, Oguz Law recommends waiting until the Immigration Court system is officially updated. It is expected that a separate section for “renewal/continuation fees” will be added to the portal in the coming days.
Conclusion
- A $100 filing fee is now mandatory for all asylum applications submitted to Immigration Court after July 22, 2025.
- The initial filing fee can currently be paid, but the annual renewal fee section has not yet been activated.
- Oguz Law will continue to monitor updates regarding renewal fees and keep you informed.
If you have already filed your asylum application with Immigration Court, please make sure not to miss this new $100 payment requirement.
